The Singularity Index: 5 rules for investing in AI bottlenecks

The Singularity Index is our answer to a simple question: what is a disciplined way to own the AI build-out? It is fully rules-based and public. Here are the rules.

1Own the shortage

Only stocks whose bottleneck scores 60 or higher and isn't easing qualify. Shortages give suppliers pricing power.

2Respect the trend

Only stocks above their 200-day average. The index doesn't fight a falling stock.

3Rank on tightness and momentum

Half the score is tightness, half is six-month momentum, skipping the latest month to avoid one-week spikes.

4Spread across the chain

Up to 25 stocks at 4% each, at most three per bottleneck and ten per sector, and only companies worth more than $2 billion.

5Trade monthly, and not too much

It rebalances on the first trading day of each month. Holdings stay while they rank in the top 40, and any spot nobody qualifies for sits in cash.

Why these rules

Owning the tightest bottlenecks captures the pricing power that shortages create. The trend rule exits stocks the market has turned against, even if the story still sounds good. Ranking half on momentum favours the shortages the market is starting to reward. Limits per bottleneck and sector stop the index from turning into a single bet on memory or power.

How to read the index page

The chart compares the index with semiconductors, the Nasdaq 100 and the S&P 500. Before the launch date, the line is a simulation that uses today's scores and stock list, so it is flattering and clearly marked. After launch, the line is a live record. Below the chart are the current holdings, this month's changes with reasons, and the full rebalance log.

Every live rebalance is saved permanently, so the track record can't be edited after the fact.
